Professor Fiona Magowan shortlisted for QUB Staff Excellence Award

20 January, 2025

We are delighted that Professor Fiona Magowan, Mitchell Institute Theme Lead: Religion, Arts and Peacebuilding, has been shortlisted for the Queen’s University Staff Excellence Awards, in the category of Student Choice.

Based on the Staff Charter and our core values, the Staff Excellence Awards celebrate and reward the outstanding work that goes on across Queen's.

The Awards celebrate and recognise the achievements of all categories of staff - from researchers and operational staff to teaching academics, administrative staff, technicians, and Professional Services colleagues.

The Awards are open to all staff and students to nominate any colleague who they believe is living the values of Excellence, Connectivity, Ambition, Respect and Integrity through their everyday work.  The winners will be revealed at the official awards ceremony in Mandela Hall on Friday 28 March 2025.

Commenting on the nomination, Professor Magowan said:

“I am greatly honoured to have been shortlisted for the Queen’s Staff Excellence Awards in the category of Student Choice.  It is a privilege to be able to make a difference in students’ lives and I am very fortunate to have worked with some outstanding students in Anthropology and Ethnomusicology who have nominated me for this award.  I am extremely proud of them and their achievements and am most appreciative of their encouragement and support during their time at Queen’s”.
