On 21-23 March, Professor Louise Mallinder attended the annual retreat of the Institute for Integrated Transitions Law and Peace Practice Group (LPPG).

The LPPG brings together 18 experts on the rule of law and peace negotiations to undertake research and provide advice on issues relating to accountability and reconciliation within efforts to build peace.  Professor Mallinder has been an LPPG member since the group was founded in 2015.

At this 10th anniversary retreat, the group worked on developing the outline of a collaborative report to be published later in 2025 that will set out a new framework for tackling transitional justice (TJ) questions in the context of Track 1 and 2 negotiations.

The Institute for Integrated Transitions (IFIT) is an international non-governmental organisation specialised in peace and reconciliation research and innovation. Often working behind the scenes, we aim to bridge social and political divides and expand the spectrum of imagined solutions.

Professor Mallinder is the Deputy Director and Theme Lead for Legacy at the Mitchell Institute. Louise is also Professor of Law at the School of Law at Queen’s University Belfast. Her research interests relate to the fields of international human rights law, international criminal law, and law and politics in political transitions.
