Join this engaging online Lunch & Learn session to explore how Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) create exciting career opportunities at the intersection of academic research and industry innovation.

Delivered through the UK-wide Knowledge Transfer Partnerships programme, KTPs connect universities with forward-thinking organisations to drive innovation, growth, and real-world impact.  We’ll explore how KTP Associate roles enable postgraduates of all levels to apply their academic knowledge and advanced research skills within organisations, lead exciting innovation projects and deliver real-world impact.

Programme Objectives

In this session, you will discover:

  • What a KTP is and how the Associate role works
  • Why KTPs are a strong next step after a PhD
  • The skills, experience, and progression KTPs offer
  • Examples of career outcomes from former KTP Associates

This session is ideal for postdocs and research staff who are:

  • Curious about applying their expertise in research beyond traditional academic pathways
  • Interested in industry-linked research and innovation roles
  • Looking for meaningful work with tangible, measurable impact
  • Exploring career routes beyond the traditional academic pathway

If you're considering how to translate your academic expertise into a dynamic, high-impact career, this session will provide clarity, insight, and practical next steps.

This course has been organised as part of the Research Culture NI project, generously funded by Wellcome.
