Queen’s Communities and Place Knowledge Sharing Sessions – GP Trainees

On the 30 April the QCAP team visited a cohort of students on the GP Academic and Research Training Scheme (GPARTS), along with Prof Helen Reid, Associate Director for General Practice and Primary Care for QUB, and her team.

This is part of a longstanding engagement with Prof Nigel Hart who has visited QCAP and shared experiences of health inequalities in communities. The QCAP team shared findings from our Community Health and Wellbeing dimension of place highlighting our ongoing co-produced interventions on Tackling Substance Use Together as well as our Community Wellbeing Kitchen.

The group has diverse areas of interest that had very close synergies with the QCAP programme as well as a shared interest in methodological approaches to working with communities, and we found many surprising alignments with QCAP work which we aim to develop further together.

They were particularly interested in how we engage with communities to build relationships and trust and we learnt about their own experiences in communities in the region and practices from across the world that they hoped to use in their current work.

We hope this is the beginning of a collaborative relationship and develop some areas we can work on together.
