Each award has specific criteria which the judges use to shortlist the nominations.
This award celebrates an initiative that has made a significant positive impact beyond the expected responsibilities of research or academic work, benefiting the broader community in Northern Ireland.
The individual or team recognised has gone above and beyond the core role, making a meaningful difference through activities such as volunteering, community engagement, education, or other efforts that contribute to societal wellbeing. Their work has fostered inclusivity, social responsibility, and real-world change, advancing not only the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), but also creating tangible benefits for local communities and wider society. This award honours those whose contributions have had a lasting, transformative effect, enhancing the quality of life for others and inspiring positive social impact.
This award recognises where creativity and innovation have brought about a significant improvement.
Whether it's an individual or team who have come up with a new innovative idea, or who have adapted a new approach to how things are normally done; this award is all about people who have thought outside the box to find solutions to challenges and deliver the best outcomes.
This award recognises teams that have engaged in outstanding collaborative activity.
It recognises where successful collaboration across roles and disciplines has made a significant and positive impact. This could be an established work team who carry out their daily tasks together, or individuals who have come together from across the University to deliver a specific project or initiative.
This award recognises an individual who has delivered excellence by making a positive difference, going above and beyond what is expected.
This could be working to get things done in exceptional circumstances or making a positive impact on the lives of colleagues or students through their work or the support they provide to others.
This award recognises an individual who positively role models our values and whose day-to-day practice sets a high standard in terms of how things are done.
The individual can demonstrate an approach to excellence, connectivity, ambition, respect and integrity and is a true leader in "our behaviour matters". It recognises anyone who has demonstrated leadership, whether that be taking the lead in a specific project or initiative, responding to change, or leading a team.
This award pays tribute to a member of staff who has made a sustained and outstanding contribution to the University community for 15 years or more.
The award winner will consistently work to a high standard and act as a positive role model. This category is open to individual nominees only.
This award gives students the opportunity to recognise members of staff who have inspired and supported them during their time at Queen’s.
This award can be given to either academic or professional services staff and celebrates individuals whose hard work has made a meaningful difference to students. Nomination reasons may include excellent student partnership, outstanding support, fantastic research-based education, commitment to EDI, personal tutoring, high-quality feedback, teaching delivery, or exceptional research supervision. Please note: students can also enter staff nominations for other award categories.
