The Queen’s University and Belfast Metropolitan College partnership has developed over 5 years, resulting in the Technician Apprenticeship Pilot,
commencing late 2023.
Working with Belfast MET and DfE, Queen's were committed to developing a programme for Apprentice Laboratory and Mechanical Workshop Technicians.
This has now expanded to Creative & Digital Industries, (IT Services and Creative Media). By partnering with Belfast MET we have been able to avail of their vast knowledge, experience and dedication to deliver apprenticeship training, and we commend their willingness to tailor their teaching methods and content to better suit our workplace requirements.
Specifically, the delivery of the Scientific Technologies pathway has not been delivered in any NI employer in over 10 years.
Aligned to University Strategy 2030 in which ‘People’ are a key enabler for strategic priorities, Queen’s recognises the potential of apprenticeships through the range of frameworks offered by DfE and via the Belfast MET partnership.
The winner will be announced on Wednesday 26th March, at the Dept for Economy, Northern Ireland Apprenticeship Awards 2025.
