Fellowship at the Centre for Apocalyptic and Post-Apocalyptic Studies

Dr Tristan Sturm, Mitchell Institute Fellow: Religion, Arts and Peacebuilding

Institute Fellow: Religion, Arts and Peacebuilding Dr Tristan Sturm will commence a funded 4-month Fellowship at the Centre for Apocalyptic and Post-Apocalyptic Studies at the University of Heidelberg on 1 April 2024 to finish his book, The Future Is a Foreign Country: The Apocalyptic Landscapes of American Christian Zionist Pilgrims In Israel/Palestine.

This book project, is a decade-long ethnographic study of American Christian Zionist pilgrims whose religious (Jewish-Christian) and national (American-Israeli) identities are imagined through an expectation of an apocalyptic future. This is a future that finds expression in landscape pilgrimage sites in Israel and Palestine.

Dr Tristan Sturm

Dr Sturm is Lecturer in the School of Natural and Built Environment at Queen's University Belfast. His interests include critical geopolitics of religious movements, especially Christian Zionists, apocalyptic thought related to religious fundamentalism and climate change, nationalism and archaeology.
